Data Integrity – Smart Factory Glossary
Data integrity stands for consistency, correctness, and reliability of data. Data integrity ensures that data remains unchanged, complete, and accurate throughout its entire life cycle. Data integrity is of the utmost importance whenever data is processed as this is the only way to prevent errors, data loss, and manipulation.
Data consistency also plays a key role in the Smart Factory. For it is only possible to take sound decisions if data is correct and complete. Content Access Services provide access to data of the MES HYDRA X by MPDV and ensure data integrity with every operation. Users require the Global Security Services in order to access the Content Access Services. The Global Security Services check the user's identity and access rights. Additionally, they make sure that each access is encrypted.
Some regulated sectors also require data integrity, for example the medical and pharmaceutical sector. It must be ensured that the pharmaceuticals produced contain the exact amount of active ingredient, are absolutely safe and meet the highest quality standards. An MES such as HYDRA helps companies comply with FDA 21 CFR and GMP regulations.
