Plug & Work – Smart Factory Glossary
The term Plug & Work describes the interoperation of two or more parties, which is established, changed, or ended with minimum effort. Plug & Work is used in an industrial context. The term is derived from the well-known Plug & Play describing the ability of a computer to easily connect to new devices that can directly be used without having to make any settings or install drivers.
Plug & Work in the MIP ecosystem
MPDV's Manufacturing Integration Platform (MIP) is an open platform centrally collecting shop floor data, which is then provided to the applications connected to the integration platform. The applications, the so-called mApps, can be connected to the MIP via Plug & Work. This means that the applications are perfectly operating within a very short time helping increase efficiency in production, which is another benefit of Plug & Work!
