Production Control System / PCS – Smart Factory Glossary
A Production Control System, or PCS for short, is a software used by manufacturing companies to plan, control, monitor, and optimize production processes. The term is synonymous to Production Management System or Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The Production Control System helps to coordinate and oversee all processes in production. The system integrates the entire value chain, from material procurement and manufacturing processes to the end product.
The PCS collects and processes data from different sources to ensure smooth and efficient production workflows. A Production Control System provides functions such as production planning and detailed scheduling, machine allocation, personnel deployment, maintenance, and quality assurance.
